「街角に立って決してやってこない人を待つのがパワーなんだ」とジャック・ケルアックが言ってから60年、はたして音楽はビートに変わる新しいヴィジョンを見つけたのだろうか。現在ボクらの聴いているジャズやロックやクラブミュージックなど1950年代以後の音楽の原点のすべてはここにあり、ビートこそが、音楽のすべてだ。それをいまではグルーヴという呼び方に変わったに
過ぎない。" ビート" 、カッコいい呼び方だ。ビートとは、'48年頃にニューヨークのアンダーグラウンド社会で生きる若者たちを総称するビート・ジェネレーションに由来する。アメリカの小説家、詩人、作家のジャン＝ルイ・ルブリ・ド・ケルアック（Jean-Louis Lebris de Kérouac、Jean Louis Kerouac ）は、アメリカ放浪と遍歴の生活をそのままリアルに書き写した1957年の" On the Road ( 路上 )や1950年の " The Town and the City ( 街と都会
) "のなかで、現在のストリ−ト・カルチャーをもすでに体現していた。現在の音楽業界全般の衰退ぶりは、ボクに先端の音楽だけを追い続ける、ある意味で消費社会の悪癖を正してくれた。前ばかり向いて駆け抜ける時代は終わったんだ。「生産されたものを消費するというよくある要求にこたえることを拒絶し、それがために、冷蔵庫やテレビ機器や自動車、少なくともこぎれいな新車や、ある種のヘアオイルやデオドラント、たいてい一週間後にはゴミの仲間入りをしているよくあるくだらないもの、労働・生産・消費・労働・生産・消費と続くシステムにとりこまれている一切すべてのものを拒絶する」。おそらく、きみの部屋に転がっているモノなど、多くがガラクタで、ほんとうに必要なものなどなにひとつないのだ。ボクらはモノに囲まれていなければ安心してられない悪癖を身につけただけ。一度、みんな捨ててまっさらになったら、そうすればほんとに欲しいもの、ほんとに必要なものが見えてくるはずだ。ところで、雑誌を編集するにしても、店を立ち上げるにしても、そこには常に音楽にインスパイアされた記号の塊が必要だ。jaz' room nu thingsはリッキーチック・レコードでのファイヴ・コーナーズ・クインテットなどのフィン・ジャズ、クラブジャズにおけるnu jazzにインスパイアされ立ち上げたといったように、新しい店nu things " JAJOUKA " は、Jaz' room " nu things " のバルカン半島のコンセプトを少し残しながら、ジャック・ケルアックとブライオン・ガイシン、ウィリアム・S・バロウズ、ブライアン・ジョーンズ、ジャジューカ、モロッコ、地中海やカルブ海文化、東ヨーロッパ、アフリカ、中近東、そして展開する音楽は50年代から現在までをアーカイヴするように横断する。

The Master Musicians of Joujouka Brian Jones 40th Anniversary Festival 2008 (in production)

**Preview of forthcoming film (in production) of the The Master Musicians of Joujouka Brian Jones 40th Anniversary Festival 2008.
In July 2008 the Master Musicians of Joujouka celebrated the 40th Anniversary of Brian Jones recording the iconic LP "Brian Jones presents the Pipes of Pan at Joujouka" (Rolling Stones Records 1971) with a two day festival. The highlight of the festival was a performance in the same spot in the centre of the village which began 40 years to the hour after the performance that Brian Jones recorded on 29th July 1968. In attendence at the festival were Brian's friends Anita Pallenberg and John Dunbar. the festival highlighted the authentic music, culture and traditions continued in the village to this day by the Sufi masters who live there.
The highlight of the musical performance is the arrival of Boujeloud, a half goat, half man, figure likened to the ancient God Pan.
This is the panic music written of by William S. Burroughs in his novels and non fiction writings.
Children and relatives of the original musicians also attended in great numbers for this celebration of Brian Jones and the Master Musicians of Joujouka. Among those who particpated in the festival was Mallim Ali Abdelsalm El Attar who at 100 years of age is the oldest Master from that era in the village. he is the uncle of the current leader of the Master Musicians of Joujouka Ahmed el Attar.
Brian Jones visited Joujouka/.Jajouka three times with Mohamed Hamri, the artist who promoted his mothers tribe of master musicians and introduced them to the avant garde writers and musicians of the Beat Generation and the 60s rock scene.
This performance was recorded for release and filmed. This clip is a sampler of one of the films in production and was shot by and is directed by Daragh McCarthy. The music is produced by Frank Rynne and engineered by David Slevin of Virtu Studios, Dublin.
